Ace journalist, Sedem Ofori, has been appointed the General Manager, News at the Media General, mother company of TV3 Network, 3FM (92.7), Onua FM (95.1), Akoma FM in Kumasi (87.9), Connect FM in Takoradi (97.3), Onua TV and 3news.com.
Until his appointment, Mr Ofori was the Head, News Planning and Research at the same media organization.
Prior to working with the Media General Group, Sedem was the Director of Corporate Affairs at the National Youth Authority of Ghana, and was instrumental in the development, launch and marketing of the National Youth Policy Implementation Plan.
His long-standing passion for journalism and media content development has seen him work in different capacities in major media organizations. He was Programs Manager of Starr FM and Class FM (Accra) and Head of Talk Programs with Multimedia Group Limited (Joy 99.7FM and Multi TV). These positions required that he supervise, develop and produce the flagship brands of the companies. In his eight years stint with Joy FM, Sedem headed three key departments; Programs, Thought Leadership, and New Media.
Sedem is credited with developing and executing multiple award-winning television and radio programs such as Zain / Airtel Touching Lives (CIMG TV Program of the Year 2009, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative at the 2016 Global Carrier Awards held in Paris, France 2016), Malta Guinness Street Dance Ghana/Africa (CIMG Television Activation Program of the Year 2010), Vodafone Health-line Radio, My Business 2010/11, to mention a few. He was for several years the lead producer of Multimedia Group’s flagship radio and television programs; Super Morning Show (Joy FM) and Newsfile (Joy FM and Multi TV).
Sedem has considerable reach and access to vast networks of influential corporate agencies, spanning many sectors and at various echelons of society. He has been a frontline international correspondent for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC World Service), producing documentaries and special reports for globally renowned programs such as the Africa Business Report, One Square Mile, and BBC News. He has also written feature articles for BBC Online.
An alumnus of PRESEC –Legon and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Sedem holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts, an Executive MBA in Corporate Finance from KNUST (Kumasi), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Law faculty.
Meanwhile Francis Doku, a career media professional as well as a consummate marketing communications specialist with almost two decades hands-on experience in media strategy, planning, buying and brands communication has been appointed as the new General Manager of TV3 Network, the nation’s number one television platform.
Micheal Oti-Adjei who is currently the Group Head of Sports will assume the role of General Manager, Digital. Afeafa Nfojoh, the current Head of Production of Adesa Production Limited will take over the vacant role of General Manager, Adesa Production Limited.
