The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will give tax reliefs to the companies that donated to the COVID-19 Trust Fund, the Chairperson of the COVID-19 Fund, Ms Sophia Akuffo, has revealed.
Speaking at an event at the Jubilee House on Tuesday May 26, Sophia Akuffo, said the move by the GRA is aimed at rewarding companies and institutions for responding to calls for a national fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
“We’re also happy to announce that the Ghana Revenue Authority has confirmed that tax reliefs will be available to donors who make donations to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund when filing their tax returns.
“This is subject to fulfilling requirements that the GRA has set out in its recently published guidelines for their implementation of the tax incentives in support of taxpayers against the pandemic,” she said.
Government set up the Fund to solicit for support from the Ghanaian public to fight the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the economy.
Since its establishment, several corporate bodies have made donations to the Fund as part of their contributions in tackling the pandemic.
