Govt to distribute GHS600m stimulus through an app

The National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) has said the GHS600million stimulus for small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) will be accessed through an application.

The NBSSI has said it therefore is conducting a stress test on the efficacy of its application portal before it launches it for the GHS600 million stimulus package for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.

However, it will accept manual application in the districts so that it does not exclude SMEs in the districts from accessing the facility.

“Currently, we are stress-testing the portal to ensure that the day when it is launched, when there is a rush or when there is a lot of people, it does not disappoint any of us”, Kosi Yankey Ayeh, Executive Director of the NBSSI said.

She explained that her outfit has, in the past few weeks, been developing the stimulus package products to suit the MSMEs, which has been supported by the Ministry of Finance and the board of the NBSSI.

She added: “We believe that in the few weeks, once the stress test is done, we will continue to engage with the various stakeholders so that they can start educating the populace, and we will start the communication as well so that more people can apply for it, and to also avoid future challenges where people are not able to hear much we have offered that the President has announced, as part of the GHS600 million stimulus”.

She allayed fears that there would be discrimination with regard to MSMEs that are eligible for the soft loan scheme as well as who gets the funding.
