Ghana’s economy is in ICU and on ventilators under Akufo-Addo – Mahama

Mr John Dramani Mahama has noted that government appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration have been doing propaganda with the Ghanaian economy.

He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed badly the economy which he said has been touted by government officials as the best in the history of Ghana.

He said the economy is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU and on ventilators under the Akufo-Addo administration.

He further promised that his administration, that is if he wins this year’s polls, will fix all the challenges with the economy.

In a Facebook live presentation on Thursday April 23, Mr Mahama said : “It is always necessary when you are building an economy to have enough buffers and create fiscal space so that when you are faced with a shock or adversity you are easily able to overcome it.

” Unfortunately this government has used a lot of propaganda. They said the economy has been the best that we have ever had since independence .

“Unfortunately in just one month of coronavirus and the economy is in ICU .

“If we didn’t run to the IMF for the $1billion credit facility it is possible that in the next two months probably salaries would not have been paid.

“And so our economy is on ventilators and it needs thinking  to rescue it from the ICU  and that is why we are continuing to review what government is doing , we are looking at what the figures are.”
