The Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) has asked drivers not to increase transport fares.
Some drivers have increased the fares.
But the union condemned the arbitrary increase of transport fares by some commercial drivers in the country.
According to them, the price of fuel on the international market, has fallen drastically but prices remain the same at the pumps in Ghana.
But the GPRTU, in a statement, said: “We wish to make it clear that there are procedures for the determination of transport fares in the country. One of the major items considered during a fare review is the price of petroleum products which have seen some reductions since the last transport fare increase in September 2019.”
The GPRTU has, thus, advised all of its members to maintain the existing transport fares and adhere to the laid-down procedures for the determination of transport fares
